Hello!
Nice to meet you. I began my career at Algonquin Books in 2016 and worked there until 2022, followed by two years at Abrams. I acquired and edited literary and upmarket fiction, narrative nonfiction, and memoir (see Experience and Testimonials for highlights). Originally from North Carolina, I attended Brown University and have recently moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey with my partner, Jen. In my spare time, I embroider, play and watch TTRPGs, bike, and enjoy my newfound proximity to trees.
My Approach
Collaborative
I start every project with a conversation to find out what you want your book to be. That way I can ensure my recommendations and ideas are always in service to your goals.
Rigorous
When I say I want to make your book the best version of itself, I really mean it. My suggestions (and praise) are specific, and they don't contain platitudes. I value precision and clarity and I give each page of each project my fullest attention.
Encouraging
I know that receiving edits can be intimidating! It’s important to me to be approachable and kind. I highlight things that you do well and phrase my feedback thoughtfully, always keeping in mind how it will feel to read it.
Knowledgeable
After eight years working in traditional publishing, I have a deep understanding of how the industry works and want to help demystify it for authors. I am happy to field any publishing questions you might have while we work together.
